Tube Cutting with KH-TAT
Laser tube cutting uses precision lasers to process tubing into various custom shapes, holes, patterns, or channels. During cutting, material rotates on a controlled lathe, enabling through-holes comparable to wall thickness and features like channels for bending and welding.
KH-TAT offers laser tube cutting services with instant online quotes,DFM feedback andFastfast delivery。we use fiber lasers andCO2lasers,achieves high-precision cutting, maximum wall thickness up to1/2inches。simply upload3D CADfile toKH-TATinstant quoting engine, easily configure and get a quote。the price you see is the price you pay, prototype products includeStandardpackage tariffs and shipping。

Sizes and Tolerances
Our laser tube cutting service can cut round, square, or rectangular tubes with a variety of sizes and wall thicknesses. Kerf sizes vary based on the specific material, laser type, laser power, and operation parameters but are overall much thinner than traditional cutting methods, reducing material waste.
Review Xometry's Standard Tube Sizes for a comprehensive list of available tube stock.
- Minimum round outer diameter: .500"
- Maximum round outer diameter: 6.000"
- Minimum square or rectangle dimension: .500"
- Maximum square or rectangle dimension: 6.000"
- Minimum wall thickness: .035"
- Maximum wall thickness: .500"
Tolerances are outlined in Xometry's Manufacturing Standards for Tube Cutting
- Cut Type: Normal-to-Surface
- Edge-to-Edge Tolerances: +/- .010” nominal on the inner face of the tube.
- Minimum feature size: Generally no larger than the tube thickness.
Shapes and Materials
Laser tube cutting systems handle various tube shapes and sizes including round, square, and rectangular.
The following materials are available for tube cutting:
- Stainless Steel: 304 & 316 (welded & seamless)
- 6061 Aluminum (extruded & drawn)
- 4130 Alloy Steel (seamless)
- Steel A513 DOM、HREWandCREW

Types of Laser Tube Cutters
Laser tube cutters are mainly distinguished by application scenario and laser type:
Combination tube/sheet laser cutters are one of the most common types, typically for smaller jobs, with multi-purpose capability (can cut sheet parts simultaneously).
Standalone laser tube cutters are dedicated systems for tube cutting only, capable of processing nearly any shapeshape(round、rectangular、octagonal, etc.),processing length up to3feet(approx.90cm)or longer。
laser type selectable based on project requirements:
- fiber lasers:compatible with multiple materials,versatile applications
- CO2 lasers:gas coverage superior to fiber lasers, better for specialty materials like titanium, can serve as an upgrade alternative to plasma cutters
both laser types have comparable power levels, both suitable for metalworking, eliminates secondary machining operations.
laser specifications primarily depend on power, higher power equals greater cut depth and duration。equipment specs also consider processable material dimensions、maximum weight、assist gas type、motor electrical requirements、repeatability and other model-specificStandard.some models feature built-in conveyors or material handling systems, enables semi-automatic or fully automatic operation.
Laser Tube Cutting Pros & Cons
Advantages:
- Semi-automated or fully automated process with high output
- Minimal or no material waste
- Provides highly complex, clean, and repeatable cuts
- Works with nearly all metal materials
- Processes tubing up to 6 inches in diameter
Disadvantages & Limitations:
- Some materials may show slight halo discoloration near cut edges (due to spatteraffects)
- minor material protrusions or edge variations may occur at lead-in and lead-out points
- generally suitable for thicknesses less than0.500-1.000inch thin-wall material
